Bacon wrapped onion rings is very delicious and easy to make. More specifically, this dish can serve everyone in the family. A great addition to any BBQ with family and friends or tailgating at a football game.
- 3 Large Onions
- 1 Cup of Cheddar Cheese
- 1 Lb Ground Beef
- 2500 gram Packages of Bacon
How to Do
Start with the ground meat and season it to your liking. I used 1 tablespoon of kosher salt, 1 tablespoon fresh cracked black pepper, 2 cloves of garlic diced. Mix everything into the ground meat and incorporate throatily. Add 1 cup of cheddar cheese and continue to mix. Peel the onions and slice into 3/4 inch rings. Press the onion rings apart stacking every second one together. Fill the inside of the rings with the seasoned ground meat mixture, pressing firmly.
For easy handling cool temperature is key to making this easy. After mixing and forming I place the meat-filled rings in the fridge to stay nice and cool while getting a barbecue set up and smoking. Once out of the fridge wrap each ring with two slices of bacon. Hold one end with your finger and continuing to pull firm for each wrap of the bacon.
Cook indirect at 300*F with smoking wood for added flavor. Apple and hickory go great with this recipe but many other smoking woods will work well for your preferred taste profile. General cooking time is one hour and sauce can be added towards the end. Feel free to use any type of sauce you like to taste for an added layer of flavor. A coating of hot sauce was a huge hit everyone loved if you like a bit of spice.
Once the sauce has setup the delicious bacon cheeseburger onion rings are ready to serve and eat. Side dipping sauces work great with this recipe as well. Be creative as many will work.
Thanks so much for checking this recipe out and I truly hope everyone gives this a try to feed your family and friends.
